LAST DROP: A BC DAM DOCUMENTARY

With applications for the development of over 400 dams across Southern British Columbia, and a serious lack of public knowledge concerning these dams, Reel Rooster Productions has begun filming a documentary which will explore the role of hydro electricity in British Columbia. The video looks at the role of kayakers in the conservation of those rivers, and the current government legislation effecting the implementation of dams in BC.

Kayakers are quite often the people who are most passionate about river protection. Very few people ever experience the canyons and unique eco-systems that kayakers experience every day on the water, and education of the public is of vital importance for the survival of our rivers. The role of this film will be to educate the non-kayaking public about the issues concerning hydro projects in BC, with an emphasis on appealing to the public through film festivals.

The documentary will include such topics as: exportation vs importation, micro-hydro vs large scale dams, environmental concerns, hydro in the future, and the role of kayaking in the development of hydro projects. The film will also try to showcase to the public the beauty and tranquility of those rivers the kayakers of BC are trying to preserve.

The Last Drop Documentary is produced in conjunction with Chris Mennell of Upper Bench Productions and Steve Rogers of Bread and Butter Media.
