Summer on the Thompson River

This past week has finally felt like real summer here in Lytton: it has been over forty degrees almost every day.

There's nothing better in the hot weather than spending a full day out on the Thompson River. Before lunch you'll be welcome to swim in the calmer scenic spots on the river; the water is just cool enough to be refreshing in the dry heat. After lunch, the eighteen major rapids are guaranteed to get you drenched.

After daring the rapids of the Thompson, come back to the Resort to sit at poolside Gilligan's Gazebo Bar, sip a tropical drink, and feel like you're in Mexico. We'll even whisper Spanish in the background to complete the effect.

Then let the fantastic food and smiling serving staff entice you into the Cutting Board Restaurant. Check out the latest menu here. My personal dinner favourite is the Baked Salmon Fillet – it's served with an amazing blush sauce and fresh vegetables.

Nicomen Falls Luncheon Spot

The ugly old dilapidated building that some of you might remember nestled at the foot of Nicomen Falls has been given a makeover. It now looks and feels like the Globe Hotel, Lytton's deluxe accommodation in the 1860s.

Nicomen House is the lunch stop for most of our trips, including the two day Power and Paddle Experience. Lunch is served in the bright, spacious interior out of the heat of the noonday sun; a large deck offers a striking view of the Nicomen River Falls.
