" The kids are still talking about it as a highlight of their lives and a final bonding of their class. It was good, safe clean fun, exemplifying our wonderful B.C. lifestyle, and I highly recommend it. "

First Guests of the 2007 Rafting Season
The Rafting Season has begun! Recently Okanagan Mission School brought a group of 44 students from the Okanagan and Quebec (exchange students) to brave the raging rapids of the Thompson.
Although the water is cold this time of year, judging from the students' high energy, laughter and smiles, they didn't even notice.
Raft Guide School
Two weeks ago nine rafting enthusiasts arrived at the Resort to commence the 2007 Guide Training School. The trainees come from all over the world: Northern BC, Eastern Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
Raft Guides are typically young, in good shape, outdoors oriented, and just a little “larger than life.”
One of the students, Mike Woodworth, is a good friend of mine and a former Kumsheen Raft Guide from the early ‘80's. He's a typical raft guide ... except he's not young.
Mike rafted with his wife Wendy on the Futulafú River in Chile last November and he was bitten by the rafting bug again. The “Fu” is an extremely challenging river and Mike wants to hone his skills so he can guide his own boat the next time he comes across a challenging river. So he joined the other eight young aspirants at our Guide Training course.
He celebrated his 65th birthday two days before the start of the two week Guide Training School.
Child Tax Benefit
We have discovered another reason to participate in one of our great family adventure vacations this summer.
The Conservative government has created a tax credit program for families with children participating in physically active programs.
Both our Family Adventure Vacations and Teen Adventure Camp qualify. Not 100% of the fee is eligible but much of it is. We will provide receipts to participants in our Families with Kids Vacations, Families with Teens Vacations, and Teen Adventure Camp.
Planning a Wedding or Family Reunion?
Keep our resort in mind if you're looking for a wonderful, unique location for your family reunion or wedding.
We've hosted both and with great results. One family is having their second reunion at our resort in 2008. The first was back in 2003 and by popular demand participants voted to return to Kumsheen five years later for another get together.
See you on the river.
